  1. OK, let me try to figure out how to say this.
Ive been working with DVDLab for a few weeks now, making DVDs with multiple titles and chapters. I use WinAVI to do the conversions from avi to DVD format. i then put the vob files into the assets bin. i then autochapter, and make my menus. the actual problem occurs when i put the dvd in my set-top player (Cyberhome CH-300) which seems to play everything. when i select the second title on the disc, the player locks up. if i try to do scene selection, it locks up.
I put the disc in my computer and used PowerDVD to play it, and it plays the second title just fine..... but instead of playing from chapter one, it plays from the last chapter, but the beginning of the movie.
I think this is what is locking up my set-top player. i can use the goto button on my remote to select title 2 and the last chapter, but i would like to use the menus i made or the scene selection.
The thing that REALLY confuses me, not all the discs lockup the player. others play just fine. All titles, from the menus and scene selections.

Am i doing something wrong? is DVDLab doing something wrong? How can i fix this thing if anybody knows.

A couple of things to try

    1. Burn to different media. Media incompatability can cause strange playback problems, and not all media is equal in all players. Sometime even within a spindle.

    2. Burn just the second title and check it for playback on it's own

    3. Rebuild the full disk from scratch within DVD Lab Pro. There have been reports that sometimes doing this can clear problems.

Could you post a shot of the connections window as well, just so we can see how you have structured this.

  3. Why author a dvd in winavi and then reauthor it in DLP?
Winavi's output is questionable at best, and will probably result in sync issues.
Use a good standalone encoder to produce elementary streams, then author in DLP.
Better yet if you extract audio from the source, and transcode separately (not in the video encoder), then import and author.

  4. Sounds like a bad link with the second movie somewhere. It's not linkd back to the main menu perhaps? Check the connections next time.

  5. reboot, i am not having any snc problems. when i tried using a standalone encoder such as tmpgenc plus, i had sync problems between the audio and video. besides, winavi is ALOT faster than any other program i have used in the past, and when it converts, it usually makes the movies around 1.5-2 GB, which is perfect for both video quality, and filling most of the dvd as possible.

Anyway, I have included a shot of my connections window, and i will try to just rebuild the dvd and see waht happens.

  6. Compile with test movies.
    Does it work?
If so, something is wrong with one of the assets.
If not, something is wrong with the structure.

  7. The test compile is great, but its not exactly a good test to see if my disc is going to work. it doesnt have chapters, and that was the problem im having. for some reason, the 2nd title points to the last chapter, while playing the movie from the beginning. you can use the goto menu in PowerDVD to change chapters, but they all start at the beginning of the film, and then point to the last chapter.
I thought for a minute, that maybe this is a problem with making this particular move the 2nd title. so i swapped it, and still had the same problems. I must have some kind of defective source. Is there any way i can check my source and see what may be wrong with it?
Maybe ill try to use a program like was suggested earlier and seperate into elementary streams. Any suggestions on a good quality, and decent speed program? Ill give it a try and let you guys know.

  8. I don't know for sure but I don't think you should have arrows (connections) that point against each other as in your screen shot. That might be sorta like an electrical short- it pops a breaker every time.

That type of connection is valid. Imagine a main menu that points to a scene selection menu that has a link back to the main menu. It can be presented either as a loop, or as arrows running against each other. Regardless, the construct is valid.

My tip is to start again from scratch. (Reboots option 3)

My first dvdlab experience was about 15 disks that went nowhere, even though I "modified" it 10 times to get it working. (That was 10 long evenings of work)

What I had done is "stuff" it on one or two of the settings when I thought I was in control, and each modification still had the underlying cause tucked away. (It looked like a good button to check)

Once I openned up a new compile and started all over, I have not looked back.
