TMPGENC hangs when I load a mpg/dat

This didn't happen until awhile ago, it used to work fine. What the problem is that I have a .dat file which I rename to mpg and I load it in tmpgenc dvd author after I load it the prog freezes for a min or 2 and when it unfreezes I get the error "division by 0" I've never had this happened before, I've tried using vcd gear to extract the mpg ( which I didn't have to before ) and it still doesnt work. At first I thought it was the .dat so I tried a .dat that worked before and I get the same error. The only change to my sys that I can remember is that I renamed mpeg2dmx.ax to mpeg2dmx.ax.bak I tried changing that back and still get the same error. Please help me out.

Yeah I did that but it didn't work, I just did a system restore to an earlier point when it worked.
