I have been researching DVD recorders for a while and need a bit of help deciding. My main use of a recorder would be to record programmes from Sky TV. I also want to transfer old home video footage onto DVD and transfer camcorder films (DV) onto DVD. The 2 DVD recorders I seem to have narrowed it down to are the Pioneer DVR720H and the JVC DRMH30. Both seem to be similar in features. Some people seem to prefer the Pioneer and some the JVC. At the moment I have a Panasonic video recorder and one feature I like about this is that when I want to record a programme on sky it actually asks what channel number eg. 301 for sky movies. It will then automatically switch the sky box on and then switch to 301, and then switch the sky box off on completion. This means that I can set the video to record different sky channels if I go away for a few days or if there are a few programmes on during the night on different channels. My aerial picture is pretty rubbish so I tend to record the likes of channel 4 through my sky box as well. Does anyone know if you can do this recording feature with any of the 2 DVD recorders mentioned or any other ones for that matter. Thanks for any help.
