    My HD04 ILO has the July 04 mfg date which I read somewheres that it is a 4x DVD burner. Then the Oct 04 mfg date for the same model is supposively an 8x DVD burner. My question is when/why would this be an issue for me. Should I try to exchange for the OCT 04 mfg date for the faster drive or does it really matter. I mostly record in real time, the only time I could see that it would matter is if I was maybe using the copy feature. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, this site and its members are great.

    As far as I know, the HD04 only has the 451S 4X burner. The R04 is the model that has either a 451S 4x or a 813S 8x burner. You can tell on the R04 which you have by the serial number.
