When you have your XviD movie with an .SRT file, you can move the subtitles down below the picture (if it's a WS one). Can't you do that with DVD subtitles as well? I don't like to watch my 2.35:1 movies with my 4:3 monitor when the subs are placed to fit for an 16:9 TV.
I hope you know what I mean. Is there any DVD player software that can move the subs?

No I'm talking about DVD movies here, not XviDs. It's weird that no player can move them, would be a great feature.

yep, it would...and I would like to resize them also.
