hello everyone, i wanted to cut some of my AVI videe files and i thought the best tool was V-Dub, so i opened it up, set the start and end frame, and clicked SAVE AS AVI. i let it be and found out that my output AVI file came up to like 20 GB, and my source AVI is like 500 MB. please give assistance because i dont know wat i did wrong, do i have to tinker with some settings? i am hoping to achieve the output at a somewhat similar size as the source, please post generously...

P.S. O by the way, my source video is a DivX AVI file, if that makes any sense...

  2. What happend was you saved to uncompressed AVI. try to save as XVID or somthing else the file will be alot smaller. It also depends on what you want to do with the final file as well.

  4. You may want to use somethig else to Cut the Video that wont re-encode it,or do it at the MPEG2 encoding processes.Because every time you re-encode the Video you lose quality.

  6. Yes. If DVD is the final step.
You cant encode to MPG2 with Virtualdub,You should try TMPGENC,it also has a cutting tool, use that to set the in points and out point of the Video you want to encode.

  10. Use the Source Range setting to Cut the Video where you need. Set in Point and out Point. Thhis is what it will encode to MPG2.

  12. skip2mylou,
If you only need to cut your avi files then the video and audio in virtual dub must be set to direct stream copy. This will keep your files from ballooning in size. Here is a guide;https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubedit.htm
    Hope this helps.
