Can a "Y Splitter" be used to set up dual monitors?
I have a friend that claims he has it done at his house...Just was wondering if it is possible. Everywhere i've read says "install another video card".

If such a thing as you posted does indeed work it would only clone the monitor which, in my experience, has only a few uses. I think dual displays would be more useful if set up to span the desktop between the two or as an extra display space for when your currently open app uses up a whole display (keeping an eye on WinAmp or messaging while playing a game for instance). For that you would need another video card or one capable of dual display modes such as that. Most newer cards (GF4 or ATi 9000 series or greater) support this.

Yep that thing would work. I had one of them on my pc at my last job.
At home I have a 9800xt which has digital and anolog output. Both screens plug into that.
