    Hi,
Has anybody had any experience with the TViX device
    http://www.tvix.co.kr/ENG/Products/TVix.aspx
    or similar?
Seems like a good option, I don't really want a HTPC, rather a stand alone dedicated device, and this looks pretty darn small.
I figured if I threw a 250Gb or so drive in, and stripped the extra's off the original DVD's then it would fit a lot of stuff..
And it appears to support DivX 3.11 (not sure if this is good or bad, don't know much about DivX).

    Thanks !

I have a TViX with a 300 GB hard drive. Overall it's quite good, and I use it almost every day. My main gripes are: (1) it only plays AVI files, and there are quite a bit of AVI files that either don't play or have audio syncing problems. (2) The cooling is very small and consequently very high pitched and annoying. It's definitely not the hard drive because temporarily jamming the propeller completely abolishes the noise. It's by far the loudest piece of audiovisual equipment I have ever owned.

DViCO is releasing a new model in January (see http://www.tvix.co.kr/ENG/Products/TVixHDM5000U.aspx) which supports HDTV. I hope it solves the fan noise problem.

If you already got the unit, have fun and enjoy, if not checkout Modix HD-3510. Its half the size of Tvix with lot more options.

Also, get the biggest hard drive that you can afford. You will run out of disk space very fast.
