  1. I am thinking about buying a DVDR but I have been hearing that some discs that have been recorded are incompatible with some players.
Can I take a disc that is incompatable and run it through a computer program such as DVDShrink or CloneDVD,make it to 1:1 and make the disc compatable with other players? Thanks.

  2. What do you mean you are going to buy a DVDR? Do you mean a DVD Burner? make sure to get a Burner that will burn + and - R DVD's.

If the Player doesnt Play DVD-r then it doesnt play dvd-r,The best you could do on a player like that is Bitset a DVD+r to DVD-Rom and it may play that.

Don't worry about this. As long as the DVD is burned in video mode and is finalized it should play in most all standalone players regardless of whether it is burned on DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW media. There are exceptions, but they are few.

Now if you were saying you wanted them to play on older Macintosh computers I'd tell you to stick with DVD-R media.
