  1. I just got into watching anime on my pc. I download fansubs. I notice there is a stutter in the picture only during pan shots. This happens on every anime I watch. I use VLC player mainly. I tried media player but the results are the same. Is this normal? I have an lcd screen too. Wondering if that's the problem. Any ideas?

You probably downloaded a DivX or Xvid which was 29.970fps to start with and it was most likely either deinterlaced at 29.970fps or it was improperly telecined to 23.976fps. Either way would explain the "oddness" you are experiencing.

In short it probably isn't your fault but the way the videos were encoded.

Well I am no huge fan of anime but I like some and have downloaded some DivX and XviD files and I have seen some (not all or even many) that have been done very badly.

So it very well might be another issue BUT my guess is it has to do with how the files were processed as opposed to something you are doing wrong.

However I am no anime "expert" so hopefully someone else will chim in with their thoughts.
