  1. Our new MSU StegoVideo allows to hide info (recommended text files) in video. After info hiding you can compress video with unknown codec (this is main feature) and extract you file from this video later!

Convolutional codes with Viterbi decoding are used to correct arising errors. Also we smartly change video with understanding how codecs works.

We analyze several codecs, but main comparisons was with DivX and XviD (and XviD is better). You can make your oun comparison with others codecs.

You can hide not so big files, but for cipher communication or video secret marking it's enouch.

    Enjoy!

Similar to steganagrophy (if I have that right) where you can integrate data within a picture file, transmit it - then retrieve that data with the same or similar software.

    1) You can't retrieve such data from merely recording an affected video that is broadcast, you have to have received a copy of the file in question.
    2) The usefulness of this for average folks is questionable. Intriguing, technically, but hiding data "in plain sight" is likely for dubious reasons.

There was a rumor that messages had been sent using public BBS systems, posting images with hidden messages before 9/11. Tried StegHide once out of curiosity, and it was pretty obvious that something was wrong with the picture after the message had been hidden. Would go much more unnoticed, had it been just in one or a few frame(s) of a movie, I'd presume.

you always could do this with mpeg files ..

using the user data area which you can add data per gop and/or per picture -- there is a way to add easly a seperate line per picture ... in hex or clear text .

by using only certain frames - you can really hide a msg ..

or in fact - send data this way ..

i just thought of this now -- i dont know if its been done ...

Yes it's steganography - hiding information in information.
    See http://home.earthlink.net/~emilbrandt/stego/softwarewindows.html for example.

It's possible adapt technology for broadcast, this is not so big problem.

    2) The usefulness of this for average folks is questionable. Intriguing, technically, but hiding data "in plain sight" is likely for dubious reasons.
We solve interesting science problem - maximization of information retrieval after video compressing and publish resulting plugin for free. It's usage is up to you folks!
