Are there any program that allow me to safely remove an IDE Hard drive without messing anything up??

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. Wrong forum. Wrong subject.

  2. Do you mean a second HD?
If so turn off the PC and disconnect.
BTW..your boot OS should always be set as master.

sounds like you are looking for a "hot swappable" type of connection (no need to turn off PC).

External drives allow this (I have firewire-400 and USB2 external drives that I can connect/disconnect while the computer stays on)

Depending on your needs, could you install one of those drive caddy's -- this will let you remove the HD, and put in another one -- you will still have to turn off the computer first...

here's the type of caddy I am talking about:

  6. I would agree that what you are loking for is a drive caddy. I've tried both a caddy and a usb hard drive and both work. Nyah Levi
