  1. What the hell is Viewpoint? I come into work this morning and see a new toolbar in IE (which opened accidentally since I don't use IE). I also see a viewpoint Icon in control panel. Spybot found 5 threats associated with it and successfully removed them Ad-aware finds nothing else on it and MS Anti-spyware finds a browserhijacker which may or may not be related. All removed successfully yet the toolbar and icon in CP are still there and fully functional. My idiot boss probably installed it so I'm trying to figure out if its okay to leave the rest of the application or if it should be completely uninstalled. None of my spyware proggies are detecting anything else now but it still worries me.

Strangely enough, some of the spyware toolbars on my system actually had an entry under "Add/Remove programs". and these ones would not be detected by adaware. Sometimes it doesn't use the actual name of the toolbar but tries to use some other "sneaky" name to try and stay hidden.

  3. Yeah I'll have to actually uninstall it and then run the spyware progs again to make sure it doesn't reinstall itself. Talked to the boss and he has no idea how it got there either (yeah right, he needed software to play a proprietary format when he was looking at pron!!!).
