  1. Is there any way to encode SVCD's so the DVD player can do the Anamorph/letterbox conversion like with DVD's?

This is no problem if you play an anamorph SVCD on a widescreen TV, then the TV "streches" the picture sideways to correct aspect ratio.
The problem is when using an older TV/proj and it hasn't the possibility to do a horisontal strech or a vertical shrink of the picture.

Where is the information on a DVD, that it sends the player, so it can do the conversion? Is it in the way the DVD is encoded and/or any other information file on the DVD?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm interested in this information too. i think that the information is in the information file on the dvd. How can we do the same in (S)VCD? Is it possible?

  3. svcd supports the 16:9 flag & you can set it in the stream, but it wont do you any good unless you own a set-top svcd player & that's still only speculation on my part. no hardware or software dvdplayer that i know of recognizes the 16:9 flag

  4. How do I set the 16:9 flag? I am ripping scnes froma movie to burn to dvd-r and I want them to be anamorphic and no 16:9 letterbox.

Is this what i would need to do?

  5. You'll have load up your normal svcd template in tmpgenc and if it's locked, unlock it. On the first page under Video Stream Setting you have Aspect ratio. I think this is the setting that sets the flag.
Tell me if you get it to work with a normal DVD player. My yamaha doesn't recognize the flag.

  6. It isn't svcd though. It is DVD. I am burning the scenes back to a DVD-R and want them to be anamorphic when they play on my widescreen tv. Right now they are playing in 4:3 letterbox.

Is this what I would need to do so they play correctly? If not...what do I need to do?
