  1. Size problem (Xvid to SVCD)

Hi, i'm having a problem controling the output size to fit one CDR.
No matter which videobitrate I use, I always get a bigger file than one CDR.

I need some experienced help please.
    Thanks.

SVCD holds typically 45 minutes per disc. If your source Xvid is around 90 minutes, you will need to devide the video over two discs. ffmpegX can do that for you.

  3. Thanks, how can I devide it in 2 disks?

And what if I have 2 Xvid files (one movie) that are each longer than 45 minutes, how can I fit each on one CDR?

"Split in [2] chunks" in the Tools tab. And use "2 CDs" in the bitrate calculator.

According to the "How to" pages, you should try the KSVCD preset to hold upto ~60 minutes per disc.

  5. SVCD, from what I've read, is not fixed to one specific bitrate so it seems you can push it to about 55 minutes of video on 1 CD if using 128 kb/s sound and NTSC film with pulldown. I'd suspect this might be more compatible than ksvcd, but don't quote me on that. It might also be possible to increase that amount a little by compromising on quality and lowering the bitrate below 1800.

Unless there is some specific reason for using CD over DVD, like not having a DVD burner, Half-DVD (352x480) might also be an option. Using Half-DVD you can fit about 5 hours on 1 DVD at a quality comparable to that of SVCD.
