With the information you have given....I would vote for the media.
BTW, what is your media? Have you tried different media or a different burning program? -
hmm its unifino...somewhat 3rd party i guess...i'll try with roxio and my memorex discs...i'll post again if anything comes up...thx
-
If you are trying to substitute Memorex thinking it is good media don't bother. Memorex is junk. You can not even accurately guess which manufacturer you are going to get between spindles. Does sound like media to me try some Taiyo Yuden.
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question! -
hmmm it still has the same problem with roxio...last 4-5 files on the dvd can not be played....so i tried moving them on my hdd and see is if it works...it comes out with an error "Data error (cyclic redunancy check)"
any more suggestions? -

btw there wasnt this problem before...only started happening a couple days ago... -
I too would say "media" rather than blame the burner. Many media get very dodgy out towards the edge, which manifests itself on data discs as having the last few files having errors. A cyclic redundancy check is typical of a bad sector of the disc, where the disc reader simply cannot get valid data from the DVD.
Often, media that has been good turns bad. That happened to me with both cheap generics and Memorex. The first dozen or so work fine, then the rest start to show defects. When I switched to a different, better brand, the problems went away.
One thing you can do with data discs is don't fill them further than 3.8 GB.
To confirm this, do a PI - PO check (I think Nero Speed Disc, a free program, is available for this). On bad media, you will see PI errors in the range of 300 or more in areas of the disc where you get bad files. For comparison, a pressed commercial disc runs PI errors of less than 10 throughout, and good media can also be burned with similar error rates. Decent media will be less than 100 throughout, and iffy media will be close to 200.
Infodisc Pro can also show you where the bad sectors on your disc are.
However, I will agree that it is sometimes the burner's fault! My new DVD Recorder hates good +RW media, but works just great with lesser brands.
Check out the results of other users of your burner on different media at https://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDname=4163B&cdrs=&cdrws=&dvdrs=&dvdrws=&dvdr...&Search=Search. Your burner looks pretty good, and other have had good luck with Memorex, but you might want to try another brand. -
thanks for your reply i'll try it out and post my results ....iam wondering if it would be a firmware thing...ever since i installed the dvd drive to my computer i havent done anything with the firmware...not sure what version it is and not sure if i should upgrade....how do i check what version i have?
