as title. I know since version "n" or above, ffmpegX support rm file. I drag the rm file, the Quick Preset(i tried different mencoder engines too) show up, then press Encode. It took 1 sec and finished. Of course, no file was converted. The process information is:

Encoding started on Thu Mar 24 16:44:24 PST 2005
    MEncoder dev-CVS-050123-19:55-3.3 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team
Mac OSX static build for ffmpegX
    AltiVec found
    CPU: PowerPC
    success: format: 0 data: 0x0 - 0x5210d66
    REAL file format detected.

Any suggestion will help. Thanks ahead.

PS. I'm G5 OSX 10.3.7, ffmpegX 0.09s(I also have the problem for ffmpegX to locate mpeg2enc everytime it startup).

  2. Check on the page http://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html whether you did install the real libraries. Also not all versions of rm are supported (rm9 and rm10 are supported). Check the same page for indications to find the correct version of mpeg2enc (which has to be 188524 bytes in size).

thanks major. the mpeg2enc problem is fixed. but i still have no luck to convert the rm file. here is the info of the rm file:

    Stream:Source0.Stream0
    Stream info
    Codec:RealVideo10

    Stream:Source0.Stream1
    Stream info
    Codec:64kbps - RealAudio (RealAudio G2)

does that mean anything to you? is that a version that can't be converted? what if i re-save the file as real10 version, will it help?

    thanks.

  4. Real10 should be converted. Try to open it in ffmpegX and tell me what the left-side LCD says about the file format.

Do you mean "Source format"? There is no file format shown up on the "From", "Video - no video" and "Audio - no audio". I can't get info from the "Info" button, can't "Play" the file(mplayer crashed all the time) or "Preview" the file.

  6. Did you install real libraries as indicated in http://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html and which version did you install? In case of doubt always install the "stable build" of real libraries linked in that page.

I did install real libraries from the your link. The one i downloaded is dated 03/24/05, macos-gcc3-pb, both "All_clients" and "All_clients_nodest". I tried both, still didn't work.

  8. You should try the "stable build" mentioned in that page. The link is http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mplayerosx/reallib.zip?download

Thanks major, finally i got the right reallib file, and it show up the info of the rm file on the left LCD. Now the only problem is, the rm file didn't converted yet, it only took 1 sec to finish the job and nothing came out. Is there any setting i need to be aware of(now i used the quick preset)?

    thx.

  10. Click the blue "i" icon in the progress window with the full process output (including possible error messages) and email it to me to major4@mac.com

I have the exact problem and situation. depend on setting, it either finish encode in 1 second with zero bit file, or error message,

Did Major manage to finally fix your problem?
