  1. Hi guys,

I've got several foreign movies that a friend has sent me, they are in the avi format, and i've converted them via tmpeg xpress.

However, once they're authored (tmpeg dvd author) and burned to dvd, the video looks great, so is the sound, but the subtitles are far too low on the screen.

I can see the upper parts of the letters, but not the bottom parts of the letters.

I've done some googling and some people recommend adding bars to the bottom, but they fail to give instructions on how to do so.

I have also followed guides on this site that recommend using virtualdubmod to resize the file.

However, after I do this, and encode with tmpgxpress, the file ends up without the resizing I had previously done. In other words, the file is reverted to its original format.

Lastly, I have tried resizing from within tmpxpress but the image is too stretched, and now, the program just crashes at any attempt I do at resizing. Sigh.

So if you have any advice please do so and help a frustrated a newbie converter.

Please explain in a fashion that is likened to that of talking to the biggest noob in the planet. I find much of your helpful advice to be greatly beneficial but much of it goes right over my head.

    Thanks gentleman.

  4. Noahtuck,

Thankyou for your response and your link.

However, noah, please keep in mind that i'm the biggest video conversion noob, so please bear with me, but your instructions doesn't state how one can add borders around the avi.

If you could list a step by step process on how to do so I would most certainly appreciate it.

If you could do it by explaining through tmepgxpress or tmpg dvd source I would be eternally in your grateful.

If any one has any suggestions, detailed directions, for a NOOB like me I would appreciate it.

    Thanks gentleman.
