Major Problem with Nero!!

If have just tried to install nero demo on my pc (windows XP) and now I can't use my cd rom drive!!!!!! I selected image drive or something when starting up nero now the message comes up that:

Windows cannot start up the device cause the system information (in the registry) is damaged or incomplete

What the hell do i do now????

I had this problem before and I thought it was a problem with daemon tools so I had to reformat my hard disk (did this yesterday!), I wish not to do that again... help!!!!!!!!

i don't know how to fix it but i think within the past week other people have posted problems with Nero and WinXP. try the search for each day within the past week and see if something comes up.......
