  1. ...for a laptop(256 ram at the moment), so low memory use would be nice.

    I have PowerDVD 6 on my PC (which has plenty of memory and a good processor), would that be good for the laptop as well?

    Or would an older version of PowerDVD (v4 for example) work as well?

    why? plays most file types! or ... forget that, use something worse, why go with better...

    I use an older version of PowerDVD (V4) on my laptop as I prefer it to V6. Just seems more versatile and simple.

    Depends on which advanced features you use in PowerDVD.

    However, an earlier version would use less power than a later version, but i dont think the difference would be much.
