  1. Hi

I have an avi file that is in two parts. file1.avi and file2.avi.

I have attempted to put them together and burn them using virtualdub an Nero but I get erros and an unsuccessful burn each time. I cant remember what the error exactly says and probably couldnt without making another coaster.

I assume that it is because the two files have different video bitrates.

I looked at them in MediaInfo and it says the bitrates are as follows

    file1.avi overall bitrate 1389KBps video bitrate 928329

    file2.avi overall bitrate 1191KBps video bitrate 730225

The audio bitrate is the same for both at 448000

If I convert the video bitrates to the same it should solve any problems shouldnt it?

What program would I use to change the bitrates?

I have tried to search the forums but as I am still pretty new to all this, I couldnt find anything I could understand.

Any help I get would be really appreciated. I have created a number of coasters trying to burn this file.

You can use virtualdub in full processing mode, although a lot of people report audio sync problems doing this. Are you trying to get a DVD or an xvid at the end of this ?

Encode each AVI to DVD specs mpeg
Author as 2 parts of the same title using TMPGEnc DVD Author.
    Done.

  5. Swizz, As you said you want to convert to DVD then I agree with Mats. Re-encode both files separately to DVD compliant mpeg using TMPGEnc or any other and author the mpeg with DVDLab or TDA.

However, if you want to join them just for kicks you have to change the btrate of one to match the other using VirtualDubMod
