When you say 'crash' do you mean just the programs quit or the computer quits? If it's the computer, does it also quit when you encode or do some other CPU intensive task?

The reason I'm asking is to isolate the problem to either hardware (Memory failure or CPU overheat are two main possibilities) or software.

Software crashes with more than one authoring program is more likely a bad encode or improper encode that the authoring program chokes on.

  3. Probably something to do with your source file(s).

what i mean by crashes is the program just shuts down ...it used to give me the BSD instead ..made a couple of changes in the BIOS and now the programs just shut down....as for the source files....they were VCD's that i used iso buster to extract the mpeg files ...the mpegs seem fine also when i try backing up some dvd's with dvd shrink it does the same thing
