I bought a photo camera "Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200" which is able to make video files 640x480 pixel at 30 fps in MOV format. However, the sound is always out of sync.
Minolta help desk told me to try a faster memory card but I already use the (to my knowledge) fastest card available (2GB SanDisk Exteme III). Problem is model specific: I tried a second camera. It looks as a design problem (firmware, slow processor, etc.).
I'd like to keep the camera but can't get on with this problem. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

You should be able to edit it in a good NLE like Premiere or whatever. You'll need to install the Quicktime codec, I recomend Quicktime alternative. You'll have to unjoin (seperate) the video from the audio. You should then be able to move the audio back and fourth until it's in sync.
It really should be in sync when it comes from the camera. I don't normally use the video function on my Olympus, but I did try it once to see if it worked. It worked fine and the audio was in sync. My camera (C-5060) shoots mov @ 640 x 480 15 fps.
Good luck. -
Hello Dipstick,
according to your suggestion, I disconnected the audio track from the video track, shifted the audio track a bit and could play the video in sync (using Ulead VideoStudio). Great! However, the program has no function to re-join the audio and video track. So it is a bit awkward always to handle two pieces for a single clip.
As you said: It really should be in sync when it comes from the camera. So I'm still thinking to better give the camera back and buy a different model. It's so annoying that companies like Konica/Minolta sell products that are obviously not fully developed.
Thank you very much for your help. -
You can remux the two using a variety of tools (Tools button at the left). You're not stuck using Ulead VS for that

It's been a few years since I've used VideoStudio, so I can't comment on it. I use Premiere and when you right-click on a clip, it will let you unlink the audio and relink it.
Another alternative would be to render it out to an avi so that you can edit it easier.
I don't know about your camera, but mine uses pretty low quality mono audio. It may be advantagious to use music or other audio instead. But to each his own.
Good luck.
