My current batch of 100 printable 8X Prodisc that I bought from rima.com have been giving me lots of trouble. I used to plop in a blank and never had to check it to see if I had a good record. With this batch, about 25-30% of the time, I start watching the movie and I get about halfway through that my DVD playets freeze and loss tracking (one a Philips 642 the other a Sony N500). I can re-record the same files (made with DVDShrink) out on a normal non-printable 8X Ritek G05 and have no problems.
I'm need another batch of 100, and thought I ask what experiences others are having lately with the ProDiscs? I'm thinking about getting the printable Riteks this time at $46/100 instead of the ProDiscs (which I believe are R03's).
Any advice?
Thanks, Dnepr

What is the media code for the Prodisc? Also what burner are you using?
-
I'm not a home right now, so can't give media code. I remeber that Decrypter said something like 'R03' (or something like that).
I'm burning with a 712A Plextor with up to date bios. The only thing 'weird' I've noticed about the Plextor is that after several 'rips' it will lose its DMA capablility and resort to slow PIO mode. Rebooting my machine always fixes this however. -
By the way, the Plextor will 'sense' these Prodiscs for 12X (higher than advertised) but the last batch did fine at 12X. Now, even after burning them manually at 8X, they still have about the same frequency of 'freezes'. I've even forced them down to 4X and got mixed results.

what dvd burner do u have
i got a bunch of prodisc r03's the 8x +r's
some memorex brand then some GQ brand, both the same prodisc's, both burn very good, burners used with them, liteon 1653 cstj firmware, other btc 1016 a07m firmware
if ur drive is having a problem with them it may be firmware related -

I have stopped using Prodiscs. Now I use TY even for my clients. There have been a lot of fluctations in the quality of the media.
A lit less headache for a marginal cost. -

my btc actully burns them better, but i do like the prodisc's r03's for the most part, i gotta use them all up as i just got a bunch of verbatim 16x meida, i am going be using all my old media cause i am sick of keeping the older stuff and using the new stuff first lol
smurf, what media do u prefer -
I've seen these same Prodisc go down hill. I use to use them all the time without problems until a few months ago. I started having the near end of disc problems with playback. I also had trouble reading back from the disc. After trying different sites and different batches I gave up on Prodisc. My older batches didn't have these problems.

What he said. I'm very disappointed with the last batch of Prodiscs I bought. They freeze at the 70-90% mark.
I'd like to have a word with the manufacturer.
Then I'd like to have a word with the retailer. -
well thanks for the heads up, i guess i will stay away from new prodisc's lol
i still have bout 100 good ones left to burn
