  1. OK. I've been re-encoding vids and such for a couple years now so i know a little bit, and can usually fix my own problems. However, i have a new issue i can't figure out.
I have occationally downloaded and burned,or did a re-encode with WinAVI and gotten this problem. I put the DVD in my player. It starts to play but it looks like the tracking is off really bad on a VCR. I press stop and the DVD player is doing the same thing on it's main screen. I have to turn it off, then back on to get rid of it. Now these vids work in somebody elses DVD player that i know but it messes mine up. If anyone knows what this could be, it would be a huge help.

It sounds hardware related, especially as it happens after you stop playing the disk, and it doesn't happen on other players. It could be an incompatability between the media and your player, or a problem with your player itself.

  3. Figured it out. My DVD player wont play PAL. I did a few tests it all leads to that. I guess i'll just have to go back to using Tmpgenc and virtualdub to encode my AVI downloads instead of WinAVI. I blame me for assuming that movies are NTSC when the uploaders are not marking thier stuff proper. Anyways i took your comment into suggestion but it all led to PAL/NTSC. Thx anyway for your help. : )
