  1. i am trying to use audacity to record sounds off of my computer i have set it up to play back from my creative sb live sound card as well as record from there too but i cant get it to record and there is no wave option what do i do

    some soundcards will have an option for "stereo mix" or "what you hear" - that's what you want to record. if neither of those show up as an option in Audacity's input settings, you need to use a loopback cable (plug a 1/8" to 1/8" cable from your line out jack to your line in jack), or use another software.

    I've found both Total Recorder and AAA Real Recorder to be decent for recording system sounds, even when the soundcard doesn't support it directly.

    and word to the wise - you'll get better information, and stand less chance of aggravating the moderators, if you post in one thread, instead of splitting the same issue across 3 or 4 threads.
