Hi,
I have a problem, it seems that anything that comes out of the DVD player on my PC is in cinematic (big black bars at top and bottom). This happens both in DVD playback and when ripping.
I am showing 16:9 DVD's on an ordinary 4:3 TV. I understand, of course, that in playbak I will get either:
a) black bars at top/bottom, or
b) vertically streched image.
BUT, when I play 16:9 DVD's on my ordinary DVD player, I get about four centimeter black bars. When I play that same DVD on my computer, I get nine centimeters black bars.![]()
And when I rip... same thing happens. The divx/xvid shows with the thick black bars at top/bottom.![]()

The strange thing is that the image doesn't seem distortedI would have thought that when i 16:9 image is shown in cinematic (thick bars) the image would appear horizontally streched, but it doesn't

What I would like to do is to playback DVD's and rip DVD's in 16:9 format, so that I only get the ordinary thin black bars at top/bottom. Any ideas?![]()
