    You've seen that guy with a clapper? That's how you syncronize audio with video.
    VOB files are part of a DVD Video structure, and as such already should contain audio, hopefully properly synchronized.
    Do you want to replace the audio in the VOB or what are you trying to do?
    If there is no clapper in the video, best way is to find some well defined event, like a door slamming shut, and try to align the audio of that event with the video.
    fps can be found for most video file formats with GSpot.

    Just add your audio to the video. Test. If it's out of sync, adjust audio (add silence at start or cut some out), repeat until satisfied.

    What is your source ?
    What tools do you have currently (authoring software, audio software etc.) ?

    If your source was a downloaded avi with mp3 vbr audio (the most common cause of sync issues), use virtualdub in full processing mode to save an uncompressed wav file, the reencode this for authoring.

    MasterMZ, it sounds like you are trying to synch a second audio track to a movie that you have ripped to vob's, correct? Do you wish to retain both audio tracks in final movie? You will need an author program that can handle multiple audio streams, for example dvd-lab pro, ulead dvd workshop or I believe dvd author can do this for free. I have done this using the audio delay feature found in dvd-lab pro in "tools" section. Dvd-lab has a steep learning curve, but is very powerful and has excellent online help manual, Here;
    http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/Help/index.htm

    Or you can add silence to or cut few ms from start of audio using editor like goldwave, then import that into your movie during the authoring step. If this is not your intent, then please post exactly what it is you are trying to do so someone can help you. Best of luck.

    The file you downloaded was a DVD converted to AVI, probably in Divx or Xvid form ? Assuming, for the moment, that this is a legitimate, public domain movie, and no copyright infringements have occured, load the avi into virtualdub. Set the audio to full processing mode (Audio menu), then save wav as uncompressed LPCM.

    Because you haven't told us what software you have, this next bit will be pretty generic. Load the video into your encoding software. Load the uncompressed wav file in as the new audio track (replacing the original). Things should stay in sync from here on (they do for me, anyway).

    If they don't, you need to try and measure how far out they are, and adjust the audio to correct. This might mean adding silence to make it start later, or trimming some from the start to get it going earlier - just as Mr. Hogberg explained earlier. Unfortunately, this bit is hit and miss. I haven't seen an easy way of getting things back together except trial and error.

  14. Hey, Hope I'm not intruding. I'm Not an expert but... I did have a sync prob with some of those new movies when downloaded to VOB files with DVD Decryptor. I had to turn VOB to AVi using DVD2AVI, then TMPGENc would recognize audio and video. Teen just preview movie under source range, scroll thru frames and mark when audio starts and when video starts, note difference and plug it in the audio adjust/delay box(which is in ms so use thousands) and then Encode but watch before you burn just to be sure. Also I don't know what your burning but DvdShrink is so easy and just one step for good quality on one disc. Just fyi, hope I helped.

  15. Be sure that the avi and the vobs have the same framerate.
    Look the audio delay in avi in GSpot. I don't know if the same can be done for vobs, but you can try. Alternatively you can run one of the vob files through DGIndex and demux the audio - the delay will be written in the file name of the audio file.
    Finally look at the duration of both files - if it is different you need to invest more work to fix it.
