  1. I want to setup a domain name. I dont want to have my own site (yet) but what I want is to be able to receive email through that domain.

    e.g hardcoreruss@hardcoreruss.com

How do I go about this?, do I need to buy the name?, can someone please point me in the direction of a company that does this for me.

    Cheers fellas.

you register a domain name, and then find a host where you can park your domain - the host can be a free or pay company.

once you've parked your domain, the hosting company will have domain management software that will allow you to configure email addresses and forwarding.

Probably, it all depends on your budget and needs. How much hand holding do you need or want?

If all you really need for now is a domain registration and somewhere to park it and get email, I can personally recommend www.godaddy.com. They're cheap - you can register your domain name for $8.95 per year, and park your domain there for $4/month. That'll get you an email site and some basic hosting. For just a bit more on the hosting side, I'm very happy with www.surpasshosting.com; for $6 a month you get 3gb of web space, unlimited email accounts, and a pretty easy to use interface (and I've always had good customer support from them. That's where I host my own site, I'm not trying to sell you anything, I don't get a cut. :P Just my own experience.

I like TZO.COM, and a client of mine uses it. It's very easy to set up, and I believe they have a 30 day free trial. Give it a shot. Of course there are other services out there, quite possibly better or worse ones. My personal experience with TZO is that they've been reliable and simple.

Also, for $7.00 a month, you can do it all through http://www.bluehost.com/
