Using TMPGnc, I seem to get pixelization in the converted mpg file. What do I mean by pixelization: all the small squares that seem to appear. Is there a way that I can stop this from happening?

these square block occurs, cos they isn't enough bitrate to represent the motion on screen, ie fast action scenes, but if u use soften block noise that should reduce it.

Unfortunately you didn't say what your end result is supposed to be VCD,SVCD, X(S)VCD..?
There are many way to reduce pixellation or blockiness as it is also called. In TMPGEnc you could try using a higher bitrate if this is possible for your end product. You can also use the under the "Quantize Matrix" tab, "soften block noise" and under the "video tab" select a high or highest quality setting under "Motion search precision". These things should all help, but TMPGEnc will naturally take longer to finish. Better to do a testing where the pixellation was worse and see how it comes out with the new settings.
