  1. Hi, I have a wav file that I need to cut parts out of. The two programs that I have tried have given me problems. I chose the segment I want to cut and then the programs ask me to select the output format. No matter what output I choose (wav, avi etc) the new smaller file plays much faster than the usual speed (sound and video). I even tried converting the big wav file into avi first before cutting it but I get the same thing. Am I doing anything wrong?
    Thanks in advance

What programs are you using to edit the sections out of the wav's ?
And when you cut out what you don't want, does it just take the section out and keep the rest together or are you getting 2 wav's and then trying to join them ?

I usually use Sound Forge which is not cheap but it is what i have used 90% of the time for a long time now when editing wav's, and just decided to try GoldWave to see what it can do, i don't get why you would save an audio file as an .avi but.

  3. I am trying to cut parts of the wav file and later join those parts in a different file. The programs I tried are #1 video converter and X video converter. I have goldwave but that's only for audio editing isn't it? Has anyone tried to cut and join wav files before?

  4. Try Audacity for audio editing.

Yes goldwave will do this. The learning curve was a little steep but it will do it. Haven't tried audacity.

  7. I just realized I have asked the wrong question. The file is actually a WMV file not a wav file. That's why I was confused when you guys replied with Audacity and Goldwave. So does anyone know why the new wav file that I cut out goes really fast on playback? Both programs I use give me the same result. Not sure if I am choosing the right settings. Sorry for the confusion again.

Extract ALL of the audio from the video files then clip the resulting audio files to desired length. good luck trying to get them to sync!

  10. If you want to extract portions form a WMV file use WMV splitter from boilsoft.
