I got a couple samples of Taiyo Yuden 4x + and - and I bunred the same movie to each for a test on them and I never noticed until now, maybe this issue is happening because of FW changes or something, but for the dvd-r disc it is IDed as this in my BenQ 1620 and 1610:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:Áš‚5jª)USª]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Manufacturer Not Found In Database]
Manufacturer ID : [Áš‚5jª)USª]
Blank Disc Capacity : [139,239,568 Sectors = 271,952.3MB = 265.58GB (285.16GB)]
It very strange, it does get identified as a TY in the NEC, BUT when I pop it in the drive, media player opens up to some strange library menu screen, something Ive never used or had open before. And the drive is not set to auto play for Media player, this the ONLY disc that does or has EVER done this strange thing. It is VERY wierd.
Can anyone help me? Its a messed up situation.

It's a confusion by either the firmware and/or the age of the ID software.

maybe this issue is happening because of FW changes or something
So...it went funny after you upgraded the FW? -
I updated the firmware on them at certain points, but i changed back after I noticed this happening, and it made no difference.
Id chalk it up to crappy FW on the benqs if it only had an issue with them, but the fact that it opens and launches some crap in media play has me curious and baffled. Plus its a little annoying when your PC starts to do things you dont expect, and you cant explain it. -
