  1. I usually just burn to CD-R, but this time I have some longer videos that just won't fit on those disks. Anyway, I bought a few 4.7GB DVD+Rs, that from the box, atleast appear to be right for the job. My problem is, whenever I put one of the disks into my re-writer, my computer always tries to read it automatically, and won't stop trying until I take the disk out. It happens when I put them in my CD-Rom drive too.

Because of the above problem, I can never burn to those disks. Am I using the wrong type of disks or something? My current re-writer is a hp cd writer if that's any help, and it's a little old, and the disks are "Mirror" brand. I have some more re-writers around here if that's the problem, but I thought I'd ask before attempting to dig them out of wherever they are.

On the front of the dvd+r box, it says that the disks are suitable for video, data, games and music, so I assume that it is possible to use them with my pc? Suffice to say I don't know very much about these things.

  2. You need DVD writer, not CD writer. Different laser.
BTW, how big are the files?

  3. Ah, hopefully I have one around here. I'll have to check. Thanks.

As for the files, the longest one is two hours and the others are a little under that.

  4. The question was how big are they(megabytes), not how long they play.

  5. Sorry....

The largest is 699MB with the rest at 645MB and upwards.

thats exactly what he was trying to do.. its a classic newb mistake.. so everyone settle down..

you're going to need to buy a dvd burner.. unless you already have one, which is unlikely.. people usually dont leave them laying around until they need to use it.

You are wrong 699MB will fit on CD, and if it is the biggest file, then the other will fit to a CD for every file either.
