  1. I want to resize a 16:9 to 4:3 aspect ratio. I coverted a mpeg1 to mpeg2 so that I could burn it to dvd. When i did it changed the aspect ratio to 16:9. I want it back to full screen. Anyhing free I can use? I have Nero but don't see anything there.

  2. Do you mean the video is actually 4:3 and is stretched to 16:9?

  3. I guess. I looked at the orginal file with avicodec and it was 4:3. When I looked at the converted mpeg3 file is now says it 16:9. I do not want to burn it if its not going to be 4:3 because I do not have a wide screen and do not want to see it "stretched".

If your DVD player is set to display 16:9 as 4:3 letterbox (and if you play commercial 16:9 disks OK then it is) you wont have any problems. The player will take care of it for you.

The other thing you could do is just re-encode the file, but this time, make sure you've got the aspect ratio set corectly in your encoding software
    If in doubt, Google it.

Wont restream change the AR flag without the pain of a reencode.

Having just re-read your first posts - very few avi formats actually have an aspect ratio flag. That is to say they are all essentially 1:1 pixel aspect ratio at whatever screen AR they were cropped to. Only DVD has an arbitrary 4:3 or 16:9 limitation.

  7. If the video looks weird (stretched), then use restream to set the correct Aspect Ratio (4:3). You don't have to reencode.
