    No it decode only but the Hollywood DVR can but it cost a arm&leg to buy.

    actually the card is worth it, I had it for the longest and it's a dream, decodes DVD in VERY good quality have EXCELLENT output to TV and Digital Out for 5.1 reciever

    yes you can use software decoder like PowerDVD but the HW+ have all the goodies output and don't take much cpu cycles
