What's going on with my Pioneer DV-626(D)? My VCDs get all c

Hi...

I was just wondering about something. I've tried looking in the faqs and in this forum without finding a direct answer to what I'm wondering about...
The fact is, that I have a Pioneer DV-626(D), and when I play my VCDs (home made) they start to get all screwed up after they've played for around 40 minutes or so. I have some other VCDs (also home made, though not by me) which play perfectly.

To be more spesific, the problem is that when the VCDs have played for around 40 minutes the video and audio starts to get out of sync, and to correct it the DVD-player starts to chop the video. With that I mean that it starts to cut out frames, so that the video seems choppy to get it to keep up with the audio. Could someone please tell me why this is? And the even wierder thing is when I try to rewind a little or forward a little the audio gets out of sync no matter where I am in the movie (5 min, 20 min... you name it).

I'm seriously starting to get tired of this whole thing, and wonder what the heck I'm doing wrong... could someone please help me??? I'm really desperate! I want my VCDs to work perfectly.

I forgot to tell you that the VCDs are ordinary VCDs with a bitrate of 1500kbps. They have been encoded using Panasonic Mpeg-1 Encoder and using the VCD template in that program.

I need all the help I can get!

what speed did you burn them at??? I'd give 2x a try and see if that improves results. I had SVCD's that were getting choppy late in the disk, and it turned out to be the speed at which I was burning. I burn everything at 2x now. Also, my choppyness had a lot of pixelization and 'green' in it. If yours does too, try lowering the burn speed.

It may be a function of your bitate. If you are using 1500kb/s as you indicate then you have gone outside the VCD specification of 1150kb/s so your player may not handle it. Perhaps the VCD's you have that were not made by you and seem to play OK are within spec. My suggestion would be to make a strictly compliant VCD and see if the problem disappears.
