For $60 bucks there is no reason to keep my normal cdrom or my soon to be retired Sony DRU 500A that i paid $250 for when it first came out (First +/- drive on the market if i remember correctly.

What are you still doing with your old drive.. just get this and suck it up and throw the old ones out!!!

This thing flies.. the reviews are all on 100%

  4. i'm throwing out the 2 cd-rw's in the machine where the NEC is going.. and while i'm at it going to throw out the cd-rw where my sony DRU500a is at LoL i'm definatly keeping that!! but getting rid of the cd-rw drives

They burn at 12x and the dvd burners work much faster... i gues you can call it spring cleaning for me i hate throwing old working computer parts out to begin with, but if i don't use them at all anymore... what the heck.

  5. Never again NEC, had enough problems. ND1300A started to get bad after 5-6 months, and is now declared dead for everything else than reading CDs. Wasted money, just add some extra and get a Pioneer that will last some years. The bad thing about pioneer is that they can last too long, had that problem myself with the car CD player and standalone DVD player, its hard to find an excuse to tell the wife why its necessary to change something that works perfectly.

Good thing, you will need the computer space for the new NEC 4550 coming this Fall.
Still a few bugs in the system...
