  1. Are there any recommendations about how large .VOB files should be and if there are difference in performance when playing them? For example: is it better (for some reason) to burn a DVD with many small .VOB files at 800 MB than one big 4.5 GB? I just had an idea that large .VOB files are more difficult to play for a DVD player but maybe I'm wrong..

  2. I think vobs are limited to 1 gb as per DVD specs.

    DVD standard says they should be a max of 1024MB for compliance, but how that translates against affecting players or not, I'm not sure ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. On a standalone player, to be DVD compliant, they must be a max size of 1024Mb. Any authoring software should enforce this.

    If playing ripped DVD's on your PC off your HD, it shouldn't really matter.

  5. Alright, thanks for the answers. And if I have a 4 GB mpeg2 file, the DVD Authoring software (like Encore DVD) will take care of the rest (splitting the file etc)?
