  1. On march 10 "allanc448" reported problem with subtitels not showing. I have exact the same problem. No errors in the log, the subtitels are there when checking with Rejig but they wont play, not burned and played
    on a standalone player and not in Media player classic or VLC.

    GUI_DVDauthor is an excellent piece of software, it would be nice to get a advice to solve this problem (everything else is working perfect). It looks so easy......just adding a picture, text and mpa/mpv files + a srt subtitel, setting chapters and Go. If working it would be wonderful!

    I will try... but I will need your help, as I was not able to reproduce this error so far.

    Maybe it helps to use the new 0.86 version, as the dvdauthor binaries are updated to version 0.6.11

  3. Thank You,
    I have uninstalled 0.83 and installed the version 0.87. But the problem remains.
    1/Rejig shows video+audio+subtitel stream marked;
    0x20-Subtitel-???

    2/Demuxing the streams from my 10 min testclip gives the subtitelfile;
    Sub_Stream_0xBD_0x20.sub (130kb)

    3/Trying to load this extracted file in Subtitel Workshop gives the message that this file "is bad and couldnt load"

    The original aviclip was converted with VSO DivxToDvd and demuxed with PGCDemux. The original srt subtitel (8kb) was synced without problem in Subtitel Workshop.

    A copy of the log is below, please note that the sub is identified as subviewer but it was srt?

    Hi,
    Screw GUI_DVD Author.. just use another DVD Authoring software. TMPGEnc DVD Author for really easy authoring without subtitles or DVD Maestro (for really really really advanced people) or DVD-Lab Pro (for intermediate people).

  5. No,
    I wont give up that easy. This prog is for my need and imo better than TMPGAuthor (which I have tried) and works beautiful except for the subtitels.

    I hope it will be some explanation/solution.

    I don't know how GFD handles the language tags, but you really should specify the language of that subtitle (English, Spanish, etc). Some dvd players may not want to play the stream if that is not specified.

    edit: you may also want to open your .srt file in a text editor, just to make sure there is subtitle text in the file. I know its grasping at straws, but it still would be a good exercise.

  7. OK. At least a part of the problem is the spumux version included in GFD 0.87. There is something missing... I will upload an update later. But the spumux version in GFD 0.83 was ok. And as your problem was there too...

    This is wrong:
    - The longest display line had -1 characters.
    - The maximum number of displayed lines was 0.
    - The normal display height of the font arial.ttf was 0.
    - The bottom display height of the font arial.ttf was 0.

    It means that the font arial.ttf was not found. If you can't wait, download liquids GUI and copy the file spumux.exe from the DVDAuthorGUI\bin directory to your GFD directory.

    If the problem persists, there is probably something wrong with your .srt file. Please post some lines out of it here.

    Sorry for the inconvenience

  8. Below is some lines of the original srt and some lines from the converted and extracted file. I have burned this testclip without problem encoding with TMPGenc 1.2 and inserting subtitel with FFDshow.

    Later today I will try changing the spumuxversion and specify the language and report back

    zappit

    The original srt;

    35
    00:03:02,652 --> 00:03:04,256
    Vad menar du?

    36
    00:03:05,940 --> 00:03:08,346
    Hennes ansikte hade ett surt uttryck.

    37
    00:03:10,471 --> 00:03:13,639
    Vi kommer att få problem med de
    lokala myndigheterna.

    The extracted sub after editing in GUI_dvdauthor:
    ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿgœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ åœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ uœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ öœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ Ýœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ œÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ Qœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ Ÿœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ Ýœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ=œÿ¢„ œ   Ï ? Dÿ ðœÿ¢„ œ   Ï ?   9. Looks like a problem with int. characters...
    Im not sure if *UTF-8* *ISO-8859-1* is correct for something like this: " att få " Maybe your srt file is unicode ?!
    BTW I've uploaded the corrected spumux version.

  10. Perhaps we got something here.......I have noticed that the program dont accept the swedish å,ä,ö in the filepath when loading a file to the menu.

    If this is the explanation its a little bit pity since I am Swedish !!!!!!

    Now that's a really great solution for problems with authoring DVD with subtitles - Forget about it, and use an authorer that doesn't support subs! With one stroke of genius, the whole problem with subtitles solved!

  12. Now I have tested the corrected full version (still reads 0.87) but no subs are showing. This time I converted the srt to sub before loading and set the language to swedish. I demuxed with PGCDemux and got this;
    Subpictures_20.sup (178kb)

    The log is below. Please note this time when loding a .sub its recognized as .srt. I also noticed that the autosetting of chapters didnt work, have always worked before......

    I will try to get some english subtitel and test.

    At last I understand that You are the author of the program, thanks for helping. Old heads (as mine) are a bit slow.

    Test with an english subtitel was no success either. I used 10 min of a srt;
    1
    00:00:15,060 --> 00:00:18,370
    The stage is full of wooden
    chairs and tables.

    2
    00:00:19,420 --> 00:00:22,775
    Two women come out with robes.

    3
    00:00:23,219 --> 00:00:26,734
    Their eyes are closed.
    Like two sleepwalkers.

  14. ...the corrected full version (still reads 0.87)...
    I know, but GFD itself has not been changed at all. Only the corrected spumux is now included.
    I also noticed that the autosetting of chapters didnt work, have always worked before...
    What exactly did not work???

    Concerning the sub problem:
    There must be something quite deep in the streams which causes this problem...
    If I test it (with your srt snip) I get more or less the same log:

    INFO: Locale=C
    INFO: Converting filenames to US-ASCII
    INFO: Detected subtitle file format: subviewer
    INFO: Opened iconv descriptor. *UTF-8* *ISO-8859-1*
    INFO: Read 7 subtitles
    INFO: Unicode font: 1185 glyphs.

    STAT: 0:00:14.124
    STAT: 0:00:19.654
    INFO: Found EOF in .sub file.
    WARN: Read 0, expected 4
    INFO: 7 subtitles added, 0 subtitles skipped, stream: 32, offset: 0.18

    Statistics:
    - Processed 7 subtitles.
    - The longest display line had 37 characters.
    - The maximum number of displayed lines was 2.
    - The normal display height of the font arial.ttf was 32.
    - The bottom display height of the font arial.ttf was 45.
    - The biggest subtitle box had 2764 bytes.

    The only difference is (only to be found in your log):
    INFO: Adjusted 14 subtitle(s).

    But I don't know what that means, nor do I believe that this has anything to do with the problem.

    Again I think the only way to get any further is a test with exactly your input files.
    I will give you my email via PM.

    Here is a screenshot of the vob file I got with your srt snip (and a mpv/ac3 file from my own):
    (VLC 7.0)

  15. Had the same problem with subtitles not showing. Found a fix - make sure RICHTX32.ocx is install in system folder. Now subs are ok.
