  1. Hello,
I just purchased Stargate Ultimate Edition DVD previously viewed from Blockbuster advertised as Extended Cut, says it right on the disc. It is only 119 minutes long and rated PG-13. I didn't notice anything extended so I look it up on IMDB and all 3 listed runtimes are longer than my so-called "Extended Cut"
    121 min / USA:128 min (special edition) / USA:130 min (director's cut)
I certainly don't blame this on Blockbuster, but on the studio - WTF?!?!
Thinking I should just take it back, I was hoping to see something new, what do you think
    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

    Hello,

Your extended cut - does it have a scene with the soldiers making fun of daniel???? That's one of them. Also the opening is different. More pyramid stuff....

I have the VHS WIDESCREEN SPECIAL EDITION so its got the extras.

Though if you really do want the extras and you didn't get them ask for an exchange....

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I know, but the series are basically an "extended edition" of the original stargate movie.

  6. IMDB run times are very frequently wrong, you can't go by that. My DVD says 119 and 122 minutes both, couldn't make up their mind I guess. It's the original 2 sided release.

I got that one, the US NTSC Ultimate Edition DVD as the Director's Cut having the length of 119 minutes and rated PG-13.

It doesn't say or to imply as extended version though.

Are you sure as extended version?

I don't personally own the DVD, but I'm planning on eventually getting it. I've never seen the extended edition but I once visited a site that listed the added scenes. There's an additional 9 minutes. The theatrical edition is about 120 min. There should be an longer introduction about Ra at the beginning. There's also a scene where they show fossils of Ra's guards under the earth gate. There are supposed to be 9 additional scenes so I'm pretty sure you ended up with the theatrical edition. There are two versions of the ultimate edition, a one-disc set with both versions on a single disc and a two-disc edition with each cut on a different disc. I'm guessing you only got the theatrical disc of the two disc edition.

I just had a good look at my DVD of the film Stargate.

This is to confirm that Ultimate Edition of Stargate is a double version release DVD.

Disc one is Directors Cut on a 130 minute length and Disc two is the theatrical version on a 120 minute length.

This should clear up the confusion as the cover shows incorrect length of 119 mins and it is in fact two versions of the film in that 2003 DVD release.

The ULTIMATE EDITION is indeed an extended cut. It is mostly short scenes, some only 30 seconds long, but it did add to the story, not sure why it was cut being so short.

For example, the Jaffa armor found embedded in a rock (the result of trying to gate through while it was underground). That scene was added back. ---- Of course, in SG-1 canon, such things are not possible, but the movie should only be lightly viewed anyway. Paying too close attention to detail will just annoy you when watching the series (which after 8 full seasons, is more canon than the movie).

That is very true. The whole point of jackson going through the gate on the movie was so he could figure out the symbols. Yet in the show all the gates have the same symbols except for the Poin of Origin.
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.
