I bought some Prodisc hub printables to try on my new R200. The printable part of the hub is translucent and I don't like the way it looks. If all hub printables are like this then in the future I'll use discs with non-printable hubs.

There is a reason for this. The silver reflective layer on the disc is applied using an electrostatic process called sputtering. The tooling and equipment that is used to apply the silver reflective layer is set up to sputter the "standard" area on the disc which leaves the clear area in the center of the disc. To change to accomodate sputering to the center hole on the disc is too expensive to do.
The result is that the printable surface near the center doesn't have the silver reflective area underneath so it appears more translucent. -
The beall 4x dvd+r white hub printable I have are not translucent on the hub. From underneath all you see is a silver hub.
