My last question is about bitrates. Lets say i have a 304x288 @ a 1000kps bitrate. If i also have the same file thats 704x480 with the same biterate, does this mean that if i expand the 304x288 to a 704x480 the quality will be the same. If i am not correct, then can u please explain to me. thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that some players (including mine) will only play set resolutions at set bitrates. So change one and not the other and I get really weird stuff happening on the screen

Hi,
The Bitrate is the amount of data used to fill a certain amount of a movie. For example a PAL movie uses 25 frames per second. At a bitrate of 1000 kbps, this is 40 kbps per frame. So 40 Kbps is used to draw a full frame (+audio) so if the movie has a low resolution the quality per pixel is higher than with a higher resolution. The reason for this is because the 40 kbps is devided over the whole resolution.
So theoraticaly, yes, when you stretch the movie to 704x480 and it would be the same quality. But unfortunantly it doesn't quite work that way. Every (re)encode causes some quality loss.....
