  1. I have been a loyal netflix subscriber for almost 3 years until recently it took them 10 days to turn around my 3 dvd's I sent back in the mail. Unacceptable! I decided to subscribe to Blocbuster.com on a saturday. The following Monday (just two days later) I recieved my first three movies in my queue from them. I am curious if anyone has experienced this with blockbuster.I am wondering if the reason is that I am a new customer with blockbuster and they don't have any rental history on me so they consider me a high priority to please???

  2. i have done the free trial with blockbuster and sainsburys in the uk
you get 3 disks at a time for a month
its a 3-4 day turnaround think i got 18 from sainsburys in a month
signed up to blockbuster sunday night am currently watching the dvds

i cant see how they can make money after paying postage each way

it should cost the 50 pence per film and i think people get up to 6 lots of 3 dvds in the month
    so postage is £9
then theres the handling fees of staff packing the disks and the warehouse and the initial cost of disks

even when free trial is over its only £14 a month

guess they make their money back on the people who do it and only watch one movie a week but never get around to cancelling

i wonder if they kick people off for overusing an unlimited offer like isps do :P

  3. I'm a Netflix subscriber and had a Blockbuster.com Online subscription as well. All I can say is, "It's Over". I had horrific turnarounds with Blockbuster.

Nope. BB is worse than Netflix, barely better than Walmart. Where I live, there are distro centers for all 3. No excuse for that. Especially not Walmart. They suck.

    Yes, I experience this regularly
I've been with them for 3 months now. First month was superfast. Second month slowed way down, I emailed them (asking to be forwarded to a supervisor) and they said that their online business had grown quicker than they had expected it to. To remedy, they were adding more shipping centers, more titles, more copies, and even getting your next movie ready to ship as soon as what you have out got scanned back in at the post office, shipping your next disc before they actually get the previous one back. It works too. I sent 3 back on Friday from the post office and 3 shipped on Saturday. It's back up to that superfast pace once again. I'm glad I cancelled Netflix. The 2 instore coupons that BB gives you each month is great too. That's what sealed the deal. 8)

  6. BB for me was very quick in the first 2 weeks or so, then became noticeably slower in the next 2 months, when I cancelled. Netflix has always been consistently much faster for me (Mpls/St. Paul area).

  7. Hi
I'm from Portugal and I'd like to know if blockbuster from UK or from the US only rent DVD's to their countries.
Do they rent too for other countries?
Because I'm from Portugal and I can't find services of online renting like those here.
    ..thoughts arrive like butterflies..

BB was a little slow for me. I think there were two reasons: They have a limited stock and often have to ship from distant distribution points. I suspect this because even if 3 disks were shipped at the same time, some would arrive 2 days later, another a week later. Another problem was their envelopes. I received several that were obviously taped by the PO which causes delays. I prefer Netflix mainly because of their vast and diverse selection and their far superior website.

  9. too many damaged discs renting from blockbuster online. I have gotten about 8 so far in 2 months. About half of the damaged discs were completely broken. They need a more rigid mailing package.

  10. GUYS and GALS,

Blockbuster and WalWart are the worst. NETFLIX is the best at turn around time. I ve been with them for many years and still happy.

    Tulsa, Oklahoma

Absolutely no less rigid than walmart or netflix, same paper envelope.

The envelope problem may not be ridgidity, but simply the disk falling out of the envelope because it comes open. BB envelopes are more prone to this than Netflix.

  14. I belong to BB and Netflix both, turnaround times are the same for both. I prefer BB because of the coupons, and they tend to have new release TV series more often than Netflix. The only drawback to BB for me is they don't always ship from the top of the list. Once I got a cracked disc from BB, their discs are usually in better condition than Netflix.

Yeah, I see that point w/ the BB envelopes. I thought it was funny that the Walmart ones were identical to the Netflix ones though. Must have hired the same manufacturer.

Three months with Blockbuster and Netflix. Both distribution centers 11 miles away. For the complete month of February I received 18 movies from each, however Blockbuster sent 2 broken ones that were replaced the next day. Each one has something the other doesn't, so I'm fairly satisfied with both.

Signed up for BB two weeks ago. In the beginning they would receive my movies the next day. Now I see some delays but still seems ok. I like the coupons from BB and their website is a lot better imo. BB seems to have a more enjoyable website where you can easily see the dvd covers and read the reviews.

    would expect domestic only

it would become expensive and would have too long a turnaround time for them to ship abroad
