  5. Yes, I have been doing some research and "Taiyo Yuden" is something I have ran into a lot. Can I buy "Taiyo Yuden" in local stores such as Fry's, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, etc?

Also, what do you guys think of Maxell? Are they recommended? Are they made by "Taiyo Yuden"?

    THANKS THANKS

  6. I don't think you will find TY disks sold under that brand.

As for recognized brand names - They change manufacturers so often that brand name is absolutely worthless in determining quality. Look for "Made in Japan" on the packaging.

  7. Taiyo Yuden is sold under the Fuji, TDK, and Sony brands, look for the 'made in Japan' on the spindles to identify. Also, TY media has it's own distinct spindle, the bottom 1 inch is about 1/4" wider than the rest of the spindle, at least with the 50 and 100 packs that's the case. Fuji is on sale for $.40 per disc every other week at Best Buy here in the U.S., and TDK has been on sale recently for $17.99 per 50 pack, it's just a matter of finding the made in Japan spindles.
