I am using a pctv rave card to capture....but i have tryed the software i get with it and that sucks!! the file size is HUGE and bad quality!
If i use avi_io or virtual dub i get an ok quality depending on the codec i use......but if i want good ish quality i end up having a file thats like 10mb for 2 secs of film!! I tryed using the huffy codec but that gives n absolutly HUGE file...and i want to put a 1 and a half hour movie on 2 cd's.....pls help....also the output file is jerky??? I asume this is because i am getting realy bad frame loss....the best i can get it is only lossing 1 frame per sec...but thats awfull!!!
what am i doing wrong????
i have a decent pc...so speed souldnt be a prob..its a 1ghz with 256mb ram....
If n e one could give me the exact setting to try i woiuld be very greatfull??? all i want is to put a 1.5 hour movie on 2 cd's and it to be good quality and not jerky....

If you haven't read the "How To" section on the left side of your screen, I suggest you do so now:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/mjpeg.htm
Basically, if you want quality from a TV card capture, you'll have to put up with large files.
Lossless AVIs take up lots of space and the only way around it is (1) reduce the quality which reduces the file size, or (2) buy a hardware capture card that can capture directly to MPEG-1/2 formats on the fly.

you will have to change the avi back to mpeg1 or mpeg 2 you can use TMPG. or get a Dazzle 2 has some problems with AMD or get a ALL IN WONDER pro for $100.00 at bestbuy or some place that will do VCD
