  1. Hi,

Does anyone know what I can do to get better compatability results with standalone players. I am using Maxell DVD-R media and a Sony DRX-710UL burner.

It some players it works great, in others the video can skip and it others it does not work at all. Does anyone have a combination of settings that may produce better results?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks...

    Harry.

  3. Thanks for the response.

Does that mean that DVD +R is more compatible? I thought it was the other way around.

I will give it a shot and let you know how it works out.

    Thanks...

  5. His burner is......just like most models of the past year...
Dvd-r was most compatible, until software could do booktype modifications for +r media.....
Also burning speed and the media quality have their impact on compatibility....

You should read the manufacturer's recommended media list before buying any empty discs.....

  6. This is all great information.

I work for a post production company so the media we buy is always the highest quality.

Should I be burning at the lowest speed possible as well?

    Thanks...

    Harry.

I burn at the fastest speeds and never have any compatibility problems it is likely to be your standalone that is not compatible and not the blanks or burner

  8. Well I have tried various settings and media types but I am still having the same problems. I know that the problems are in the standalone units but I am still no closer in creating a more universally campatible DVD.

Does anyone have any other pointers that may help?

    Thanks...

    Harry.
