  1. I was going to suggest to a friend of mine to use DVD Decrypter for ripping her DVDs to her hard drive for burning back-ups. Before I did, I'd like to know the following...

She has a few non region 1 discs, but her DVD drive is not hackable to be region free. Could she still use DVD Decrypter to rip an ISO file to the hard drive while removing region coding and copy protections or will the region 1 DVD drive kick in and refuse to rip?

    Thanks.

  2. thats the wonder of decrypter, it will still rip. I had this going on my friends system for a while before we gave his burner and rom drive some nice firmware upgrades

  3. Sounds great. I'm assuming that when the operating system (not DVD Decrypter) asks to change the region of the drive, she should just close the window without selecting the region? Then DVD Decrypter can create an ISO file of the disc without any region coding or copy protections which she can shrink (if needed) and then burn, right?

  4. well that didnt happen on my friends drives. I had him disable auto play (on xp the take no action choice). all we then did is ran dercypter and it showed the disc and ripped without a problem.

  6. should you ever need to play a disc, their are plenty of apps out there that will over-ride the system settings and make the drive region free without doing any firmware to the drive or using up the limited number of drive changes the pc allows. dvdregionkiller was one

  7. ... or use AnyDVD. It will also allow you to bypass region coding.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.
