I am a star wars fan and I am one of the very many who does not like the new dvds that George Lucas has made. So i have the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition of VHS and i would like to record it onto my computer so i can burn it. Problem is macrovision, when i record the movies they turn out white with sound, i am using ComproPVR2 to record and i have used dscaler before but the settings are extremely hard to configure anyway i was wondering if anyone might know of another program that could record movies and would just have some easyier settings on it. i have a capture card and fairly new (1 year), and making dvd's is not new to me...help would be appreciated![]()

You need something to remove the Macrovision. Check this thread: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=243476&start=0

If you dont like the Star Wars DVDs because of what Lucas has done to them why would you want to convert your Star Wars Special Edition tapes?
Theyre basically the same but with crappy sound and picture on VHS. I prefer the DVDs over the Special Edition any day. Just look at Jabba in a new hope.
Thats my opinion of course. Good luck converting and hope everything works out for ya. -
Some Card can be hacked MV free ,Not sure what one,Also the quality can suffer if you dont do it right or use cheap MV removers.

ok all i want to know is (just keep star wars out of the picture here just think macrovision) if there is any program that can be used to decode macrovision

I've never heard of software demacrovision (not that I'm an expert) but as has already been mentioned, you need to remove it with some kind of hardware, or find a hack for your videocard. Fortunately, my card removes MV out of the box.
What hasn't been mentioned yet (and what will give you the highest quality) is to download the movie using bittorent (google if you never heard of it). Obsessive fans have gone to great lengths to make a high quality DVD version ripped from the Laser Discs, and this DVD can be downloaded from the popular torrent sites and burned. Of course that's not legal though, and I've never downloaded these myself so can't personally vouch for the quality. -
