  1. i used DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to get the VOBs off the dvd. After that i used TMPGEnc Xpress to demultiplex the VOB, and then multiplexed to a mpeg. now when i try to convert the Mpeg file to a smaller size i can't get any audio. (when i play the orginial MPEG file i get audio, so there is audio on the orginial). any ideas why this is?

would i have to demultiplex it again? and use the ac3 file as the source audio?

    thanks in advance

Before we start chasing this down, how about you tell us what you wanna accomplish overall.
Perhaps your entire method could use fewer steps.

    Hello,

Use divx then. You can also keep the ac3 audio. Just look up the guides section for help. Virtualdubmpeg2 is an excellent program for it.

  8. here is what i do:

    1. open up virtualdubmpeg2
    2. open up the video file
    3. audio is set to source audio
    4. video compression is set to Divx 5.2.1 Codec
    5. save as avi

  10. you said you converted VOB to mpeg. Used MPEG to conver to DivX. Use VirtualDubMod to open VOB file directly and then encode to DivX AVI file.

  11. ill try it, but that means i have to rip thema ll over again and that is not fun ^_^

i dont understand why TMPGEnc Xpress 3.0 says there is no audio when i open it up

and then when i try to demultiplex it and use the .ac3 file as the audio source i get an error msg :
"can not open blahblahblah.ac3 because it is an audio file"

is that not a stupid error msg? cant open an audio file in audio source becuase it is an audio file? ^_^

  12. aight i just tried the method that sanjayk said, and it also did not work. it held the audio in sync for about 5 mins.

is there maybe a .ac3 to wave or something converter? or would that mess the sync up too?

  13. You need the AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc to encode to AC3.

You can use BeSweet+BeSweetGUI to convert between audio formats. Use it to convert AC3 toWAV.

  14. i finally got it to work
thank you all for your help

this is what i did (from the beggining)
    1. ripped the episode off the dvd in IFO mode using Dvd decrypter
    2. demultiplex it with tmpgenc xpress 3.0
    3. using Besweet+Besweetgui i converted the .ac3 file to .mp2 (Tmgenc doenst accept .mp3/.ac3 for audio) (if you have the plugin links for this please post, id really like to get them)
    4. used TMPgenc xpress 3.0 to convert the video and audio to mpeg file of about 200mb

thanks again for all your help
