Been using InterVideo DVDCopy 3 because of the great reviews that i seen and the tests from http://dvd.box.sk/index.php?pid=home&prj=main looked great , recode as I have always known is very pixally, DVD Shrink 3.2 needs more options & better output quality and DVD2ONE is ok!!! not good enough to make me want to pay for it. I have been backing up my kids dvd (before all of them are unrepairable! wow they are hard on them). I click of the hard drive folder and load up the dvd video_ts folder that i ripped to the hard drive then
select "CUSTOMIZE"
then click ON the tab that says "FIT TO ONE DISC" with "4.7 G DVD" selected
then I click on what ever titles i wish to keep. 90% of the time the almount of files that select are over the 4.7 mark so the quality level tabs come up.
Now i am ready to rock n roll, the tabs are selected, the statis bar on the bottom tells me that there is a min. on 4.7 gig selected to encode.
Click the burn icon.
wait 15-20 minutes!!
and here we go all done but when i look in the encoded folder of the output encoded movie its always 1 gig less the 4.7 marker???
Is there anything i can do here???

Will for those of you that are are following this forum i fixed the problem. I stopped using the stupid program!!!! That was an easy fix!!! Been trying the older 2.5 version and it works great. If what i can see the 3.0 for some reason does not keep in consideration what you are ripping out of the dvd it looks at copying the full dvd even though you are ripping the Audio and extra files from it!!! I did try a full dvd copy and it worked prefact. I maybe wrong but thats what it looks like to me!!!
Over and Out!!!

Intervideo 3 take's into consideration removed extras but it does not take into consideration removed audio tracks. When you remove an audio track you will notice that the file size does not change thus the compression rate also does not change. This is the reason I too stopped using this program.
However, for the best possible quality I would recommend Recode 2 with deep analysis and AEC (if you want decent speed) or DVD Shrink 3.2 if you're not concerned with speed as both offer similar results. Another good program is Clone DVD 2, it's compression for larger files is not quite as good as Shrink or Recode with AEC and Deep Analysis but it's quite good on smaller files (6.5 GB or smaller) and it actually has a few options that Shrink and Recode do not such as the option to keep menus when removing titles (Yes I know there are tools to let yo do this with Shrink but I think it's too much effort).
Personally, I just purchased Nero 6 Ultra and I more or less exclusively use Nero Recode 2 now as it offers better speed than Shrink and is constantly being updated whereas Shrink has not bee updated since last summer. -
I use CloneDVD2 with AnyDVD to remove titles not needed.
And I keep the menu. I then use DVD Shrink 3.2 or DVD-Rebuilder .77
